Plant Dye Textile Journey,
Join Andrea Viêntëc and Anna Cain for a plant dye and embroidery ceremony Saturday Nov 18th or Sunday Nov 19th. Enter the colorful world of natural dyes using local plants and food scraps to personalize a natural fiber scarf. No experience required and we provide all materials. Just come ready to explore your creativity and bring a small personal amulet or token to add into your scarf.
You will:
- Receive an overview of the history and science of naturally dyeing textiles.
- Learn the symbolism and properties of certain plants to add meaning to your project.
- Imprint plant color using the “bundle dye” technique and use different embroidery methods to seal an amulet of your choice into the fabric.
- Take your unique naturally colored scarf home.
Lead in English with translations to Spanish and Catalan available.
